Naomi’s second student accommodation scheme in Shoreditch, London, expresses the special characteristics of the site, old and new, to create a resonant sense of place.
Located in the heart of what was once the joinery industry, an internal wall cladding of reclaimed doors in Reception, a showcase to the street, in collaboration with furniture maker/artist Lucy Main, echoes that craft, where the installation’s scale and texture intimate home.
Amenity spaces – study rooms and lounges - are further crafted with bespoke furniture and lighting designed by Naomi and designer/makers and artists Play of Brilliants and Louise Jackson to create a matrix of flexible, robust but beautiful spaces for students to make their own.
The gym features a portrait of Sylvester Mittee by John Claridge: Mittee fought in a boxing club once located on the site.
This property has proven to be one of the most successful student accommodation schemes in London, with a record of near 100% occupancy since it opened and excellent student approval ratings.
“We have had the pleasure of working with Naomi over a range of student and BTR developments. Interior design is a critical component to the 'Aspirational Lifestyle' assets that we develop and Naomi brings flair, class, consideration and intuitive design excellence to create exceptional assets that will stand the test of time. No one scheme is ever the same and Naomi intuitively understands the context of a building’s location within that city and clients that will be proud to call it home for as long as they live there. In short Naomi always exceeds expectations set at an already very high bar.
In the case of Paul Street East the design quality of the interior is significantly responsible for 100% occupancy, 95% conversion rate and lettings renewal in excess of 50%” (Richard M. Jackson MRICS, Managing Director and Founding Partner, Apache Capital Partners).
